New Jobs In Columbus...Fatal Accident In Yankton...Wayne County Fair Underway

COLUMBUS(AP)--  Behlen Manufacturing plans to hire about 50 people because of two recent acquisitions. The Columbus-based company recently bought steel building maker EagleSpan Steel Structures and HawkLine Nevada, which makes a variety of agricultural three-point equipment. Both deals were completed this month, and terms were not
disclosed. Behlen CEO Phil Raimondo says the acquisitions should help make the company stronger. EagleSpan was based in Loveland, Colo. Its manufacturing will move to Columbus, but about 10 sales and engineering jobs will remain in Colorado.  HawkLine was an affiliate of Carry-On Trailer of Mt. Orab, Ohio. Behlen plans to build HawkLine products in Columbus and at its Huntingdon, Tenn., plant.

FATAL ACCIDENT IN YANKTON

YANKTON(AP)--  A Volin man has died of injuries suffered earlier this week in a two-vehicle crash northeast of Yankton. Alan Welsh of the South Dakota Highway Patrol says 65-year-old Phillip Larson died Tuesday at an Iowa hospital. The patrol says another driver, 18-year-old Brenna Rae Sibson of Vermillion, failed to stop at a Yankton County intersection and collided with Larson's pickup, causing it to roll. The crash happened about 5:40 p.m. Monday. The patrol says Sibson and her 17-month-old daughter suffered minor injuries.

WAYNE COUNTY FAIR UNDERWAY

The Wayne County Fair is underway and is loaded with events that everyone in the entire region of northeast Nebraska should enjoy.  Fair Board Member Dave Jaeger says they are particularly proud of the county's 4-H program and all the young people who take part in the program.  This years entertainment is outstanding with comedian Herb Dixon performing on Firday evening in the Grandstand.  Saturday nights headliner is country performer Tracy Lawrence who has had 17 number one hits.
