Marion Baier age 88 of Wayne, died Tuesday at Providence Medical Center of Wayne.

Funeral Service at Grace Lutheran Church of Wayne on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Marion Ruth Baier was born February 11, 1922 at Traer, IA to L. Earl and Daisy (Carter) Stoakes.  She attended school in various communities before graduating from high school in California.  She attended Wayne State College  and then taught country school in Wayne County for a few years.  Marion married Julius Baier July 4, 1947 at the bride’s parent’s home in Dixon County.  The couple farmed north of Wayne before retiring into Wayne in December of 1985.  Marion was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Wayne.  She enjoyed gardening, baking, and quilting.


    Marion is survived by two sons, Robert Baier of Carroll and Leonard (Darla) Baier of Rosalie; daughters, Shirley (Ken) Prokop, Sarah (Randy) Surber, and Onar (Dale) Spahr all of Wayne; twelve grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law, Clair (Lura) Stoakes of Winside and Mary Stoakes of Seward; nieces and nephews.


     Marion was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Julius in 1995; son, William in 2000; and brother, Howard Stoakes.


      Marion’s family appreciates your thoughts and kindness and invites you to lunch in the church fellowship hall following the committal service.
